I want to smash my digital camera...

...into a million little pieces.  I'm having visions of that scene in Office Space where a fax machine is pulverized to all hell.

I hate the damn thing

We bought this little pocket-sized camera before Kiku was born anticipating that we'd appreciate the portability, and after hours and hours of research that only a true Maximizer could withstand, we ended up with a piece of crap.  A piece of crap that cost over $400.

It's the delay that kills me.  And the fact that it only takes actual photos HALF THE TIME I press the shutter.  Only half!  As any parent knows, it's already difficult to take a decent photo of a small child when the camera is working correctly.  A lot of the photos we take of Kiku end up looking something like this:

A mere two seconds before, she'd been looking at the camera with the most heart melting grin.  So as in most cases, I get flustered trying to take a good shot - and end up with five crappy ones and maybe one decent one.  I used to be a good photographer, back when I was using good 'ol Kodachrome.  I miss my trusty 35 mm.

I know, I know, why don't I take the digital into a (shop? camera store?) or send it somewhere (back to Canon? Is it still under warranty?  Do I even still have the warranty?) to be repaired?  Call me lazy, un-environmental, or whatever you want, but I'd rather just get rid of it and find a camera that works well, because at this point I'm done with it.

Any why not go back to film?  Good question!  I'd love to!  But I don't have a scanner and even if i did, scanning takes time - something I don't have a lot of.  Besides, JJ ("Mr. Technology") would never go for it.
